For years I ran Goodyear supercar 3R. Through those years have run Cup 2ās , other Michelins, Bridgestones, to you name āem. Pretty much all the regular brands that we all use.
For the last several years have switched to Hoosier A7 and R7s. Aās being my favorite.
When I saw the new 200 tw Track Attack Pro made by Hoosier on my daily Trackdaytire email.
I couldnāt help but run to the website to see if they had my size in stock.
I was pleasantly surprised to see my 325 30 19ās but the 315 wasnāt there. It did not deter me though. I used to run the 305 30 19 on the front anyway.
When they were delivered. I was perplexed. Tires shipped in a box? Were these new tires top secret? lol. Of course I could wait to get the first box open and see what these were all about. The first thing that jumped out at me was the letter H branded next to that new tread. Next, looking toward the sidewall. They appear to be very similar to the classic A7ās.
All I could think was.. how will these tires competeā¦ They are Hoosiers. This is a tall order with high expectations. I was thinking to myself.
It was the end of a great weekend with friends. We were at a Racing for ALS Benefit. Not racing that weekend. The perfect time to test out a new tire. The weather, although changing, was beautiful 80Ā° but cloudy. The track; warm. Cars running fast at VIR.
I put the tires on and fueled up my car at the pumps.
Suddenly people had started flocking to the car. Everyone is asking the same question. Is this the new tire? What do I think? Have I tried them? Where can I buy them? Etc
Going out for the first time I tried to keep my expectations low. I slowly warmed up the tires on the 3.27 mile road course. After passing the start finish at somewhere around 150 mph, braked early as I normally would to test the grip. They felt very planted as I pushed even harder to find a reaction from the tire. I was impressed as I turned in throughout the apex as I swept around the right hander. Then the next two left handers. Pushed a little hard.. still felt good. How will these tires feel running up the esses I thought to myself.
They felt great I was thinking as I passed under the bridge. Climbing the esses at a slower pace 140 mph. They treaded straight though beautify. The left hander at the top felt great. And then down to oak tree. Up on two wheels over the apex around the gators on the outside. At this point Iām in. Could these tires be this good?
Up the back straight. We will see how they stop. 164 mph up the hill and on the brakes hard. Set up for the right hander. With a slight trail brake. Wow. These are good, I’m thinking. The only test now I am thinking of is hog pen. This can go bad as Iāve been many times from others or it will make me a believer.
As I round the right hander. I was surprised. Hoosier. You got me. These are sexy tires that will do the job at the same time.
Itās no wonder I am starting to hear that there are organizations that will not consider this as a 200 tw completion tire. I hope this is not true. And I suspect that there are other scared tire companies behind those rumors. This tire is it.
Itās amazing. – Jeremy Lowder
